Since last week’s price drop, the Coriander market has remained steady. Even though the market was closed last week for two consecutive days due to the Christmas holiday and Sunday, the sentiment has remained firm once the market opened on Monday, December 27.

Market Sentiment

  • Last week, there was a hike in the prices of Coriander varieties due to the good demand.
  • Farmers and stockists started releasing their products because of the higher prices in the spot markets across India.
  • It has been reported that the current price of Coriander is 43 percent higher than last year during the same time.
  • The increase in the price has led to the buyers becoming inactive this week, putting pressure on the higher price.
  • The other factor that also capped the price a bit was the stock increase due to the consecutive holidays.
  • According to the market experts, the price is holding steady for Coriander due to the low stock compared to last year, which has made buyers active.

Arrivals

On Monday, December 27, the following were the arrivals:

Guna recorded the arrival of 3000 bags

  • Kota received 1500 bags
  • Ramaganj recorded the arrival of 3500 bags
  • Baran reported having received 1500 bags
  • Rajkot received 800 bags.

Predictions

It is expected that the production will be less for Coriander this year. As of December 27, the Gujarat Agricultural Department has stated the crop sowing size is down from last year’s 135,563 hectares to 125,171 hectares. Altogether, the coriander-producing states, i.e., Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, are sowing less than 10 to 15 percent of the crop compared to last year.

Low stock and the reduced sowing of the crop may make the market bullish in the upcoming days, and the prices may go up by $10.71 to $13.39 per 0.1 ton. The overall production of Coriander for 2021-22 is expected to be about 342,435 MT compared to 2021’s 352,316 MT.

Prices

The price trend was the same for all the other varieties, i.e., Coriander Eagle 100% Split, Coriander Single Parrot, Coriander Double Parrot, Coriander Eagle 5% Spilt
