In many regions of Ukraine, farmers were forced to suspend fieldwork due to prolonged rainfall. In the Kirovohrad region, sunflower has already begun to be harvested, but rain interferes. Only 70 ha were harvested from 1100 hectares in the Novoukrainsky district farm. They plan to complete the harvest in mid-October if the weather is favorable.

Of course, precipitation interferes with the harvesting campaign, but at the same time, it provides the winter crops with the necessary moisture.

“Today, there is good and even excessive soil moisture under winter crops on areas already sown or planned for sowing almost throughout Ukraine,” said Tatyana Adamenko, head of the agrometeorology department of the Hydrometeorological Center of Ukraine.

According to her, the regions of Poltava, Sumy, Cherkasy, Khmelnytsky, Kyiv, Ternopil and Ivano-Frankivsk regions are overly humid, depending on the amount of precipitation that has fallen over the past week.
