In fiscal year 2021, India produced an estimated 0.75 million metric tons of sesame. This was similar to the previous fiscal year.
In India sesame is grown practically in all states. However, Rajasthan, Gujarat, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh are the major sesame growing states.
Current Scenario
Sesame seeds markets are slow at present, arrivals are high but there is no demand in domestic as well as export market
This week white and natural sesame seeds went down, whereas black sesame seeds remained almost stable.
According to traders and sources, as of now 3rd wave of covid has put pause on Global level demand and supply. However, stockists are active in market and willing to sell their existing goods, which is not supporting the market and leading it towards downtrend.
