According to FAO reports, Iran is the third-largest producer of walnuts in the crop years of 2020 and 2021 by producing more than 356.000 tones of shelled walnuts.

According to FAO reports, more than 3.750.000 tons of walnuts are produced worldwide. China has manufactured and supplied more than 1.000.000 tons of shelled walnuts as a leading producer of this product in the crop years of 2020 and 2021. During this time, the United States is in second place by producing more than 707.000 tons. According to FAO, Turkey, Mexico, Chile, Ukraine, Romania, Uzbekistan, and Greece are in the next positions, after Iran.

The latest statistical data of the FAO shows that China and Chile have been the major exporters of this product in 2020 and 2021. During the mentioned period, the United States has exported 138.000 tons of walnuts. China is the second-largest exporter by exporting more than 72.000 tons. During this period, Chile is the third-largest exporter of shelled walnuts by exporting more than 65.000 walnuts to global markets, which is placed before UAE, Mexico, France, Turkey, Ukraine, Argentina, Australia, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, and the Netherlands. According to FAO statistics, Iran ranks nineteenth in global markets by exporting less than 1.000 tons in 2020 and 2021.

Compared to last month, the price of Iranian walnut for export has risen due to an increase in the domestic demand as well as reducing foreign exchange rate against Rials. The demand for walnuts has increased in the Iranian market due to the approaching Nowruz holidays in Iran, which increases the cost of this product in the domestic markets and global markets. Compared to last month, the price of foreign currencies has fallen by about 3 to 3,5 percent in the Iranian market, which raises the cost of Iranian walnuts in global markets. Compared to last month, the price of Iranian walnut for export has gone up 7 to 9,5 percent.
