Iranian Almond Kernel Exports up 27.7 Percent

More than 97 percent by weight and 99 percent of the export value of Iranian almonds and almond kernels exported in the first two months of this year were allocated to the export of almond kernels. The export of Iranian almonds and almond kernels has grown by 27.7 percent in terms of weight and by 56.3 percent in terms of export value in the first two months of this year compared to last year. The most important export destination of this product during this period has been India with 66.3 percent by weight and 72.5 percent of the export value of the total export of almonds and almond kernels.

According to Iran customs statistics, 600 tons of almonds and almond kernels worth 5,126,024 USD (8.54 USD per kilogram) were exported from Iran from the beginning of this year to the end of February (the first two months of 2023). During this period, 584 tons of Iranian almond kernels worth 5,088,080 USD (8.69 USD per kilogram) were exported from Iran. Also, 16 tons of in-shell almonds worth 37,944 USD (2.40 USD per kilogram) were exported from Iran.

India is the largest importer

India has been the most important export destination of Iranian almonds and almond kernels in this period. In the first two months of this year, 398 thousand tons of almonds and almond kernels worth 3,714,858 USD (9.34 USD per kilogram) were exported from Iran to India. Almond kernels are the most exported product to India. In this period, 66.3 percent by weight and 72.5 percent of the export value of the total export of almonds and almond kernels were allocated to India.

Iraq is the second

After India, 129 thousand tons (21.5 percent by weight of the export of almonds and almond kernels) worth 1,170,345 USD (22.8 percent of the Dollar value of the total export of almonds and almond kernels) were exported to Iraq. The average price of each kilogram of almonds and almond kernels exported to Iraq was 9.07 USD.

Germany is the third biggest buyer

The third and most important European destination for this Iranian export product has been Germany during this period. In the first two months of this year, 48 thousand tons of almonds and almond kernels worth 168,000 USD (3.5 USD per kilogram) were exported from Iran to this country. 8 percent by weight and 3.3 percent of the export value of the total export of Iranian almonds and almond kernels have been allocated to Germany. In-shell almonds have been the most exported product to Germany.

The export of almonds and almond kernels has increased in the first two months of this year compared to the same period last year. 470 thousand tons of almonds and almond kernels worth 3,280,436 USD (6.98 USD per kilogram) were exported from Iran in the first two months of 2022. The export rate of Iranian almonds and almond kernels has risen by 27.7 percent in terms of weight and by 56.3 percent in terms of export value in the first two months of this year compared to last year. The most important reason for the increase in the export of this product this year is the increase in export demand due to the high quality of the product in the market compared to last year.

The average price rose 22 percent

The average price of each kilogram of exported almonds and almond kernels has grown by more than 22 percent. Also, the dollar income from the export of this product has increased compared to the weight of the export of this product in the first two months of this year compared to last year, which is due to the increase in the share of the export of almond kernels. In the first two months of last year, 76 percent by weight and 95 percent of the export value of the total export of almonds and almond kernels were allocated to the export of almond kernels. While in the first two months of this year, 97 percent by weight and 99 percent by export value of the total export of almonds and almond kernels were allocated to the export of almond kernels.

Compared to the last eight weeks, the price of almonds and almond kernels exported by Iran has decreased in the world markets due to the increase in the supply of this product in the market as well as the increase in the exchange rate of foreign currencies against the Rial.
