The cost of a food basket in Spanish supermarkets on average rose by 15.2% year on year. Such data was provided on Tuesday by the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) of the kingdom, TASS reports.

“The prices of products that make up the OCU basket have risen by an average of 15.2% since the last study, ” the publication says. “This is the biggest price increase recorded by OCU research since its launch 34 years ago.” “This is a general price increase that affects 95% of the 239 items that make up the consumer basket.”

The organization singled out an increase in prices for sunflower oil (by 118%), as well as for bananas, pasta, olive oil and flour (by 50% or more). The cost of only a small group of goods decreased slightly, the OCU added.

As specified earlier in the National Institute of Statistics, in August inflation in Spain reached 10.5%. At the same time, the increase in prices (by 13.8%) for food and non-alcoholic beverages reached the highest level since 1994.
