Over the past week, through the ” Grain Corridor ” 18 ships left the ports of Odessa, transporting a total of 664,000 tons of Ukrainian grains. This is a third less than the volume of exports over the past week, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine reported on January 30.

The implementation of the Grain Initiative has slowed down.

A critically low rate of vessels leaving ports remains – 2.5 ships per day. This is an indicator that was at the beginning of the work of the “Grain Initiative”, when the volume of exports was insignificant. At the same time, the number of vessels that are inspected in the Bosphorus and receive permission to move to Ukrainian ports for loading also does not exceed 3 vessels per day.

It is also emphasized that in the Bosphorus Russian inspectors continues to block the implementation of the grain corridor initiative and artificially increase the queue of vessels. As of January 30, 117 ships are waiting for inspection in the territorial waters of Turkey (92 – to enter the ports for loading, and 25 – already loaded). Over the past week, only 20 inspections took place, with the minimum required 84. The registration of vessels to participate in the initiative is also slowing down: out of more than 80 declared vessels, Russians daily register only 2-3 on average without explanation.

These factors slow down the implementation of the Grain Initiative. A decrease in exports is almost 30% compared to the previous month. The vast majority of countries receive it with huge delays in time due to demurrage of vessels in the Bosphorus.

January export of Ukrainian grain exceeded 3.5 million tons

According to the latest data from the State Customs Service, as of January 30, since the beginning of MY 2022/23, Ukraine has exported 26.274 million tons of grains. In January – 3.528 million tons.

At the same time, it is noted that for the same period of the previous season, this indicator amounted to 37.951 million tons. In January 2022 – 5.479 million tons.
