Turkish Trucks Stuck on Bulgarian Border

Spread the news!

Fresh vegetables and fruits exported from Turkey to Europe caused long queues of nearly 800 Turkish trucks due to the long analysis in Bulgaria. The trouble at the border gate of the European Union (EU) hit both the producer and the exporter.

Big damage

Noting that while the prices in the domestic market were falling, various penal sanctions were imposed by the importer companies as the exporters could not fulfill their commitments, the President of the Western Mediterranean Exporters’ Association (BAIB) Ümit Mirza Çavuşoğlu stated that the damage had reached great proportions due to the trouble at the Bulgarian border gate.

It has been 20 days

He stated that intergovernmental negotiations are continuing to reduce the truck queues at the Bulgarian border crossing and to make analyzes faster. Explaining that the exporters have been severely damaged due to the trouble experienced at the Bulgarian border gate for nearly 20 days.

Çavuşoğlu said, “700-800 Turkish trucks are waiting at the Bulgarian border gate. Due to the late analysis on the Bulgarian side, the product deteriorates in the trucks. The exporter cannot fulfill its commitment to its customer. For this reason, penal sanctions are applied by the buyer companies. In addition to criminal sanctions, cancellations are also increasing. The damage is huge.”

Only one company is making the analysis

There is only one company that makes the necessary analysis of the food products in the export trucks at the Bulgarian border. Although various attempts have been made to remove the monopoly of this company, the bureaucracy works slowly in the country that has just been elected and the government has not yet been established.
