Ukrainian traders will be able to send about 4 million tons of grain and oilseeds abroad every month after the start of transportation through the Odessa seaport. Roman Slasten, General Director of the Association “Ukrainian Agrarian Business Club” (UCAB), shared these calculations, noting that by selling goods also through the Danube ports and land western borders, the country will be able to export 6.5 million tons of agricultural products every month.

“This will be enough for Ukraine to be able to take abroad the export residues of last year’s harvest of 15-18 million tons and grain, which will be harvested in 2022 and sold to foreign markets,” Slasten said.

The expert also stressed that the forecasts may not come true if foreign ship owners do not want to go to Ukrainian ports to export grain.

“So far, the number of applicants is small. We hope that it will increase, because there are preliminary agreements on new vessels that should come for the harvest, ” he says.

According to him, if we rely on the current world prices for grains and oilseeds, then for 70 million tons of harvest, Ukrainian farmers can receive about $15 billion.
