Drought Impact on Yield for Sunflower and Soybean in EU

Spread the news!

The yield of a number of agricultural crops in the European Union may be reduced due to drought in some regions, which had a negative impact on the development of crops.

The forecast for the yield of soybeans has been reduced from 2.46 t/ha announced in August to 2.4 t/ha, which is 15% lower than both the previous year and 15% lower than the average level of the last 5 years.

As for sunflower, the yield estimate for this crop fell by 0.5% over the month to 2.05 t/ha (-14% per year).

After the summer drought the improvement in weather conditions especially in Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands,  western Germany, Croatia, Spain and Italy was too late.

At the same time, the precipitation that has fallen since mid-August has improved the conditions for sowing winter crops 2023/24.
