The area under cultivation of grapes has decreased by 20 percent in Bardeskan. Also, the production of grapes and raisins has declined by 40 percent in this city. 70 percent of Bardeskan grapes are processed and turned into raisins.

According to the Agricultural Organization of Bardaskan in Khorasan Razavi province, the grape harvest started from 800 hectares of vineyards in this city on July 6th. Drought, extreme heat, and burning out the agricultural well pump engines have reduced the production of this product by 40 percent. This year, grapes suffered from sunburn and their quality has decreased, in addition to the fact that the area under cultivation of grapes has declined by 20 percent compared to last year. So, gardeners are forced to harvest their product earlier and sell it fresh at a lower price instead of processing it and turning it into raisins.

It is expected that 9,000 tons of grapes will be produced in this city this year with an average harvest of 15 tons per hectare. Jobs will be created for 15,000 people daily during one month of harvesting this product. 23 types of grapes are produced in Bardaskan city, of which 85 percent are Pikami and Askari. The best of them are thin green raisins for export which are sent to neighboring countries.

30 percent of the total production of Bardaskan city is sent to the other provinces for fresh consumption, and 70 percent of it is processed and turned into raisins.

Due to the increase in temperature and the decrease in the quality of grapes, it is necessary to build water storage pools to shorten the length of the irrigation circuit, and by implementing canopies in the vineyards, it is necessary to pre-ripen the grapes and deal with pests and diseases, sunburn and frostbite.

Compared to last month, the price of Iran’s high-quality raisins increased in the domestic markets of Iran. The increase in the price of Iran’s exported raisins in the domestic markets of Iran led to an increase in the price of this product in the world markets. The increase in the price of raisins in the world markets took place while the exchange rate of the dollar against the rial increased compared to last month.
