The decline in export demand and market inventory has caused a drop in the export of Iranian raisins in July 2022 compared to June this year and July 2021. The most important customers of Iranian raisins in July 2022 were Russia, Turkey, Kazakhstan, United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Algeria, and Ukraine.

According to the Iran customs statistics, 4,972 tons of Iranian raisins worth 7,932,000 USD were exported from Iran in July 2022. The average price of Iranian raisins for export has been 1.60 USD per kilogram during this period. In July 2022, the greatest amount of exports in terms of weight is allocated to Sultana raisins with 2,452 tons worth 3,234,000 USD (1.32 USD per kilogram). Sultana raisins have a share of 49.3 percent in terms of weight and 40.8 percent in terms of export value this month.

The highest amount of exports in terms of export value is allocated to the Golden raisins in July this year. 2,196 tons of Golden raisins worth 4,073,000 USD (1.85 USD per kilogram) were exported from Iran this month. Golden raisin has a share of 51.3 percent in terms of export value from the total exported raisin during this period. Also, it has a share of about 44.2 percent in terms of weight and ranks second after the Sultana raisin.

Russia has been the most significant customer of Iranian exported raisins in July. 1,107 tons of raisins (22.3 percent in terms of the total export weight) worth 1,492,000 USD (18.8 percent in terms of the total export value) have been exported to this country this month. The average price of exported raisins from Iran to Russia has been 1.35 USD per kilogram, which is lower than the average price of Iranian raisins for export. It means that raisins with a lower price or lower quality are exported to this country. After Russia, the most important destinations of Iranian raisins in July are Turkey (605 tons worth 1,130,000 USD), Kazakhstan (530 tons worth 865,000 USD), the United Arab Emirates (504 tons worth 821,000 USD), Iraq (485 tons worth 838,000 USD), Algeria (407 tons worth 803,000 USD), and Ukraine (256 tons worth 322,000 USD).

The export rate of Iranian raisins has declined significantly in July compared to June this year. 7,834 tons of raisins worth 11,363,000 USD (1.45 USD per kilogram) were exported from Iran in June. The export of Iranian raisins has dropped by 36.5 percent in terms of weight and 30.2 percent in terms of export value in July compared to June this year. The most important reason for the decrease in the export of this product in July compared to June is the reduction in export demand and market inventory due to the end of the business year of raisin export and the production season.

Also, the export rate of Iranian raisins has fallen in July of this year compared to the same period last year. 8,656 tons of raisins worth 10,920,000 USD (1.26 USD per kilogram) were exported from Iran in July 2021. The number of exports has decreased by 42.6 percent in terms of weight and by 27.4 percent in terms of export value in July this year compared to last year, which is due to the decline in the market inventory caused by the decrease in production last year and export demand reduction.

The price of Iranian raisins for export has dropped by 5.5 to 7.5 percent in the world markets during the last month due to the decrease in export demand caused by the approach of the raisin production season. Most raisin customers prefer to postpone their purchase until the new product enters the market. This issue has led to a decrease in demand and the price of raisins compared to last month. Also, the increase in the foreign exchange rates against the Rial is another reason for the price reduction in the international markets compared to the past month.
