The export rate of Iranian raisin production has fallen by about 55 percent in the first two months of this year compared to last year. More than 90 percent of Iranian raisins for export allocates to Golden and Sultana raisins.

In the first two months of the new year, the amount of Iranian raisins for export has declined compared to last year. According to Iran’s customs statistics, the number of Iranian raisins production has been 18,278 tons worth 23,740,000 USD in January and February 2022. The average price of Iranian raisin for export has been 1.3 USD per kilogram in these two months.

The export rate of Iranian raisin was 39,937 tons worth 53,460,000 in the mentioned period last year. The amount of Iranian raisin export has fallen by 55 percent in terms of weight and export value in January and February 2022 compared to the same period of last year. A severe summer drought damaged Iranian vineyards and their products. So, the number of crops production has decreased sharply compared to the previous years. Also, the products have had lower quality due to drought. The most important reasons for reducing the number of exports in the first two months of this year compared to last year are reducing the number of available crops this year and declining product quality.

In the first two months of this year, 10,713 tons of Sultana raisins worth 11,783,000 USD (1.1 USD per kilogram), 5,812 tons of Golden raisins worth 9,139,000 USD (1.57 USD per kilogram), and 937 tons of Green raisins worth 1,585,000 USD (1.69 USD per kilogram) were exported from Iran. In addition, 332 tons of Sun-Dried raisins worth 405,000 USD (1.22 USD per kilogram), 113 tons of Mavis Raisins worth 201,000 USD (1.78 USD per kilogram), and 370 tons of other types of raisins worth 627,000 USD were exported from Iran.

Compared to last month, the price of Iranian raisins for export has risen in global markets, which is because of an increase in the domestic demand due to approaching Nowruz holidays in Iran, as well as a reduction of 3.3 percent in the foreign exchange rate against Rials. Compared to last month, the price of Sultana raisins has risen by 10 to 11.5 percent, the cost of Golden raisins has grown by about 9.5 percent, the price of Green raisins has increased by about 9 percent, and the price of Sun-Dried raisin has gone up by about 8.3 percent.
