Increasing Export of Iranian Raisins in February 2023

The export of Iranian raisins has increased by more than 12 percent in weight and by 15 percent in terms of Dollar value in February 2023 compared to January this year. The export of this product has grown by 42 percent in terms of weight and by 103 percent in terms of export value this month compared to February 2022. More than half of Iran’s exported raisins were Golden type in February this year.

Average price of exported raisins – 1.90 USD/kg

According to Iran customs statistics, 14,644 tons of Iranian raisins worth 27,801,182 USD were exported in February this year. The average price of Iran’s exported raisins was 1.90 USD per kg in February. Last year, the largest number of Iranian raisins for export was Sultana raisins. However, the highest amount of Iranian raisins for export has been Golden Raisins in the new year.

54 percent golden raisins

More than 54 percent of Iran’s exported raisins belonged to Golden raisins in February this year. 7,956 tons of Golden raisins worth 16,707,610 USD (1.2 USD per kilogram) have been exported from Iran this month. The Dollar value of exported Golden raisins is more than 60 percent of the total Dollar value of Iran’s exported raisins this month. After the Golden raisins, Sultana raisins are in the next place with 4,698 tons worth 7,677,685 USD (1.63 USD per kilogram). 32 percent by weight and 27.5 percent by Dollar value of Iran’s total exported raisins were related to the export of Sultana raisins in February this year. Green raisins, Sun-dried raisins, and currant are in the following places in terms of the highest number of exports.

The export of Iranian raisins has risen in February this year compared to the previous month (January) due to the increase in export demand. 13,061 tons of Iranian raisins worth 24,176,101 USD (1.85 USD per kilogram) were exported from Iran in January this year. The export of this product has grown by 12.1 percent in terms of weight and by 15 percent in terms of export value in February 2023 compared to January 2023. The increase in demand caused a rise of 2.7 percent in the average price of each kilogram of Iran’s exported raisins in February this year compared to the previous month.

In addition, the export of this product has gone up compared to the same period last year (February 2022). 10,330 tons of Iranian raisins worth 13,697,816 USD (1.33 USD per kilogram) were exported from Iran in February of the past year. The export rate of raisins has risen by 41.8 percent in terms of weight and by 103 percent in terms of export value in February 2023 compared to February 2022.

Factors for the increase

The most important reason for the increase in the export of this product this month compared to last year is the increase in the supply of raisins in February this year compared to February last year, which was due to the rise in the production of this crop, and the increase in the quality of this product (especially the quality of Iranian Golden raisins) which increased its demand. The most important reason for the growth in the average price of each kilogram of Iran’s exported raisins in February this year is the rise in the export of Golden raisins compared to last year.

Compared to the last 8 weeks, the price of Iran’s export raisins in the world markets has been almost stable, and only some figures of this Iranian export product have been associated with price changes of about 1 percent.
