Saman city is the main production centre of some horticultural crops such as almonds and walnuts. Mamaie almond produced in this city has the highest quality among the products made in the world. Indian families are the biggest consumers of this type of almonds. The approximate area of ​​the gardens of Saman city is about 18.000 hectares. 50 percent of the gardens in this city are almond orchards. Most almonds produced in this city are Mamaie. Gardeners have removed peach trees, etc., due to the weakness of the conversion and complementary industries, and Mamaie almond cultivation has increased. Almond production is more economical for farmers than other horticultural products because it is nuts and can be stored longer. 12.000 tons of almonds and 4.000 tons of Mamaie almond kernels are produced in the almond production centre annually. This product has its fans in global markets.

Saman almonds are exported to European countries under the name of India. Russia, France, and some other countries process and export almonds. Saman almonds are bought from farmers of this city at a very low price and sell at a higher price in foreign countries. The profit of this product is given to Indian traders, etc. One of the problems in the production of this product is the frost in the almond orchards. Frostbite causes a lot of damage to the farmers of this city every year. Last year’s frost created terrible conditions for the production of this crop.

The price of Iranian almonds for export has increased by about 3.6 to 4.2 per cent in world markets compared to last month. The most important reason for the rise in the price of Iranian almonds is the increase in export and domestic demand in the first two weeks of this period.
