Walnut; 49 Percent Increase in the Export of Iranian Walnuts and Walnut Kernels in June

The exports of Iranian walnuts and walnut kernels have increased by 49 percent in June 2022 compared to June 2021. The export rate of this product has increased by 80 percent in terms of weight and by 123 percent in terms of export value in the first six months of 2022 compared to the same time last year.

The export rate of Iranian walnuts and walnut kernels was 22,622 kilograms worth 226,000 USD in June 2022. The main export rate of walnuts and walnut kernels belonged to Iraq in June 2022. More than 99.5 percent of the export of this product belonged to the export of walnut kernels this month. The average price of Iranian walnuts and walnut kernels for export has been 9.97 USD per kilogram this month.

The export rate of the mentioned products has decreased by 49 percent in June compared to May 2022. 44,140 kilograms of walnuts and walnut kernels worth 441,000 USD were exported from Iran in May 2022. The most important reason for the decrease in exports in June is the decline in the market inventory due to the end of the business year of this product and the new product harvesting.

The export rate of this product has grown noticeably compared to June 2021, despite the decrease in the export of Iranian walnuts and walnut kernels in June 2022 compared to May. 5,825 kilograms of Iranian walnuts and walnut kernels worth 58,000 USD were exported from Iran in June 2022. The exports have increased by 289 percent in June 2022 compared to the same period last year. The increase in export demand is the most significant reason for the export increase in June 2022 compared to June 2021.

 

Also, the export of Iranian walnuts and walnut kernels has risen in the first six months of this year compared to the same period last year. 133,820 kilograms of these crops worth 1,314,000 USD were exported from Iran in the first six months of 2022. While in the same period last year, 74,356 kilograms worth 589,000 USD were exported from Iran. The export of this product has grown by 80 percent in terms of weight and by 123 percent in terms of export value in the first six months of this year compared to the same time last year. The most important reason for the increase in exports during this period compared to the previous year is the increase in export demand, especially from Iraq. The average price of Iranian walnuts and walnut kernels for export has grown by 24 percent per kilogram during the mentioned months this year compared to the same period last year. It has reached 9.82 USD from 7.92 USD per kilogram. The cause of an increase in the average price per kilogram of this product is the increase in the export of walnut kernels compared to shelled walnuts in the first six months of this year compared to last year.

 

The price of Iranian walnuts and walnut kernels for export has decreased in the world markets compared to last month due to the decrease in the price of these products in the domestic market of Iran. The cost of Iranian walnuts and walnut kernels has fallen by 7 to 7.6 percent in terms of the Dollar rate due to the significant increase in the price of the exchange rate of the Dollar against the Rial compared to last month. The cost of these crops has reduced in terms of Euro rate and European markets due to the energy crisis caused by the halt of Russian gas exports to Germany and the continuation of Russia’s war against Ukraine in the global and Iranian markets compared to last month. However, the cost of Iranian walnuts and walnut kernels for export has dropped by about 1 percent in terms of the Euro rate compared to the previous month.
