Exports of Iranian pistachio and pistachio kernels have decreased by more than 60 percent this April compared to this March. The most significant factors in reducing exports are the reduction in market inventory and demands.

According to Iran Customs statistics, more than 2,901 tons of pistachios and pistachio kernels worth 20,807,000 USD were exported from Iran this April. Of this amount, 2,169 tons worth 12,869,000 USD belong to the export of shelled pistachios, equal to 75 percent of the total pistachio export by weight and 62 percent of the export value of the mentioned number. The average price of Iranian shelled pistachios for export was 5.93 USD per kilogram last month. During the past month, 732 tons of pistachio kernels worth 7,938,000 USD were exported, equal to 25 percent of the total exported by weight and 38 percent of export by the value of pistachios. The average price of Iranian pistachio kernels for export was 10.84 USD per kilogram this April.

The export of pistachios and pistachio kernels has declined sharply in April compared to the previous month. In March, 8,339 tons of pistachios and pistachio kernels worth 61,199,000 USD were exported from Iran. Exports have declined by 62.5 percent in terms of weight and by more than 66 percent in terms of export value in April compared to March. Reduction in market inventory and demands are the most significant factors in decreasing the export of the mentioned crops.

The export of Iranian pistachios and pistachio kernels was 7,151 tons worth 50,694,000 USD in April 2021. The export of these products has decreased by about 60 percent in terms of weight and by 40 percent in terms of export value this April compared to the same time last year, which is due to the decline in production and available crops compared to the previous year. Over the past month, the cost of this product has risen in the domestic and world markets due to a sharp decline in the market inventory.
